The body is an archive that holds both internal experiences and external collective imprints. This performance highlights the clash between the individual and the collective, between the inner and the outer, between hidden desires and the existing reality, using the Latvian contemporary dance industry as a metaphor. It is an industry that is still on its path towards emancipation in Latvian cultural policy. The performance gives importance to the subjective, celebrates the body, unleashes the voice and outlines the daily life of independent artists, which consists of doing several things at once, burning out, fighting for their field, constantly daring and adapting at the same time.

TILL DEATH DO US PART / LĪDZ NĀVE MŪS ŠĶIRS  
​Contemporary dance solo piece (2023, 30')

"Till Death Do Us Part" refers to the existential bond that inevitably exists between the human being and the body through the romanticised vow of marriage, which requires a lifelong union. It is a direct reference to the fact that to be alive is to be in the body. The anxiety about the body in capitalist society is ever-present; it provokes us to question our own existence, its quality, the limits of the body and its conformity to an imaginary normality. But there is really nothing else besides our own bodies, and our relationship with them can be built through the everyday experience of the body, becoming more and more immersed in its being and more and more alienated from the disapproving gaze of society.

THE ACTIVE VOID / AKTĪVAIS TUKŠUMS
 Audiovisual installation (2023, 30')

The installation consists of video projections inspired by contemporary dance and a 30-minute meditative landscape of sounds and words to be experienced individually through headphones. Looking for impulses in psychology, philosophy, literature and quantum physics, the authors of the installation invite you to wander freely through consciousness, questioning the relationship between reality, emptiness and the human body.
The choreography was created by Rūta Pūce in cooperation with dancers Poļina Filippova, Dita Andersone, Anna Marija Puķe, Mārtiņš Emīls Aržanovskis, Anastasija Čornaja. The video director is Andris Gauja, the cameraman is Andrejs Strokins, the editing director is Inese Tīkmane. Audio directed by Anna Paula Pujēna, text authored by Agnese Lipska. Producer - Latvian Academy of Culture. The work was created during the master's studies in the program "Audiovisual and stage art".

ROLL, ROLL MORNING DEW / RITI RAITI RĪTA RASA
​Openig performance for photo exhibition (2021, 30')

Dance artists Rūta Pūce and Anna Novikova made and performed an opening performance for an exhibition "Roll, Roll Mornig Dew" by a latvian photo artist Iveta Gabalina at ISSP gallery. Performance are inspired by Gabaliņa's work and focuses on the healing practice of the Latvian sauna, where the body, mind and spirit are healed using herbs, oral folklore and immersion in cold water.

TWONESS/DIVOTNE
​Contemporary Dance piece (2017, 40')

Contemporary dance performance TWONESS is about a Woman becoming a mother and her attempts to embrace two new roles  - Mother and Non Mother. Choreographers Rūta Pūce and Anna Novikova used their experience of being dance artists and mothers as the main dramaturgical tool. The collaboration between Anna Novikova and Ruta Pūce is called MANAMAMMADEJO (my mom dances), they continue to explore the coexistence of the roles of mother and dance artist.

Dance marathon (2020, 819')

Latvian dance artists came together and made a longterm dance event for the anniversary of Riga city. Each choreographer danced a solo for 20 minutes and interact with each other during the change of soloist.

ONE HUNDRED SOLITUDES is a poetic dance piece about the human boundaries with the world. Solitude as the basic existance of our own body where no one else can get into. The piece uses references from the novels of Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
